      <g:title>Smoking Is Fun!</g:title>
<g:description>I have always liked these old Newport cigarette ads, and I have used many as source material for drawings over the years. So I produced this book compiling them, over 140 ads. I have a terrific book by Vincent Fecteau called ‘The Good The Bad and the Ugly’ (from 2015) that I really love which is similarly text free, full bleed images cover-to-cover. There’s something I really like about flipping through that and it seems like the perfect use of a book / art book format. Another favourite book from my collection compiles Mexico City disco sound system flyers by Panther Publishing. It was released by Rollo Press in 2014, and is beautifully put together. I get a similar mellow buzz by flipping through those wordless pages, though the content collected therein is more straightforward / deliberately purposeful.
148 pages, full colour.</g:description>

      <g:title>Cruising zine</g:title>
<g:description>This zine examines the legacy of the 1980 William Friedkin film Cruising, the real life events that were a source of inspiration, the backlash from the gay community, and how it now serves as a time capsule of a bygone, pre-AIDS era. Researched and written by a gay man (me) who worked at Gauntlet II in Silver Lake Los Angeles.</g:description>

<g:description>In 2022, I had an exhibition of my t-shirt collection at Passport Gallery in Sydney, and launched this book. It features photos of 50 t-shirts and the stories associated with each. Lots of these relate to obscure bands, bars, and artists that no longer exist.</g:description>

      <g:title>On Fountain</g:title>
<g:description>In 1998, at the age of 23, Wilfred Brandt relocated from the U.S. Midwest (where he was born and raised) to Los Angeles for an internship in television at a daily cable comedy show called Talk Soup. By day, he watched videotapes of TV talk shows like Jerry Springer and Sally Jesse Raphael, and by night he explored the gay leather bars of Silver Lake (whilst still very much in the closet). With some flashbacks to his formative same sex college experiences while living in Chicago, ‘On Fountain’ is a hybrid work interspersing essays on topics ranging from indie rock to queer culture with a first person narrative about the terrifying freedom that comes from being alone somewhere new and reinventing yourself, set in the fading years of analogue before cellphones became commonplace and the Internet ubiquitous.

      <g:title>Gentlemen Prefer Bombs</g:title>
<g:description>Compilation of word-based sticker art. Assembled by hand and numbered, limited run of 100. Each comes with a free sticker (a new series not included in the book - rare as hen's teeth!) You don't need to stand in a smelly Sydney laneway on your tiptoes leaning over a puddle of vomit trying to get a picture of one on a street sign anymore. This zine was a big hit with the 60 and over crowd at MABF, because the title I think (my reference points run wide and deep)
